Modification of the Audiovisual Communication Law and the “Argentina Digital” Law

The Decree of Necessity and Urgency (“DNU”) No. 70/2023, modifies the Audiovisual Communication Services Law No. 26,522, and the “Argentina Digital” Law, No. 27,078.
The basis of these modifications is to allow free competition between different (and new) audiovisual communication services.

Likewise, it establishes that an authorization will no longer be required to provide satellite broadcasting services. In this regard, the owners of satellite systems will only have to register in advance. This is in order to coordinate the use of radio frequencies and avoid interference with other systems.
